Not much happening on this side of the internet. I guess that is a good thing. Day in - Day out. Not much happening. But that also means not much happening on the job market, either. Oh well.

The Refuge

I check occassionally to see how people are getting to my blog. Maybe a bit of vanity, but mainly just curious. What really intrigues me is when I get a bunch of hits from some off the wall site, like happened when I got a bunch of hits to this post. I also noticed that I was getting a bunch of hits to this post because of the picture from The Bloated Goat.

Now, I have been getting hits from a site called The Refuge. I had never heard of the site and was wondering what was up. They weren't even linking to a spacific page, they were just linking to my main page.

I guess there is a person on this forum who also goes by Dr. Benton Quest! Great minds think alike!

Spank A Wife For Jesus Part 2

There has just been a rash of hits on my page "Spank A Wife For Jesus." Now the searches that are bringing the people to my page are "Mike Hitchen and Spanking." Mike posted a comment on the post so that is why it is coming up. But I wonder why this sudden interest? Has Mike done something? Most of the hits seem to be coming from England and France. Anybody have any idea?

Life, as it is...

Well, I am feeling whiny, but what's new about that, huh?

I have been working temp and have been getting up at 5 am to be to work by 6. But when I get there, there is the search for something to do. The machines have been down so they keep searching for things to keep us busy. I know I should be happy to have a job, but just "keeping busy" is not my idea of a good time.

The problem is, I want a job I just hate applying for them. Why can't places have a stock application that can be filled out, copied, and then passed out. Having to fill in the same thing all the time is just getting old. I know, "Whine, whine..."

I have been starting earlier to make Christmas presents this year. Last year was just too much of a press. I also am thinking of doing some casual teaching of stained glass to people from the church. The church has given me a space to use so I though giving lessons would be a way to give something back.

So, Nick is working and I am doing temp. I am sick of the whole situation. I am sick of Nick feeling bad. I am sick of looking for a job that is nothing what I trained for. I am sick of calls being all over the place and not being able to take one.

How Ironic

I heard a news article on NPR this morning talking about the thinning of the Arctic ice sheet and the wonderful benefits we can achieve from this. One of the great benefits will be the ability to extract the oil from under the ice cap.

Now does anyone else see the humor (?) in this? Because of greenhouse gasses, we have less ice on the ice cap. This thinning of the ice allows us to drill for oil and produce more oil. This allows us to burn more oil thus increasing the greenhouse gasses. This works to increase global warming and continues to think the ice caps.

The people on the radio sounded just so happy about this and how we need to jump on this windfall before we lose it.

I just couldn't believe they didn't see the irony of the situation.

Adding Ads

Hi folks,
I am adding ad-sense to my blog. Yes, I have succumed to the lure of the ads. Hey, if I can get some extra money then that would be great. Just click on an ad and that helps me pay the electric bill.

I hope it doesn't become intrusive. If it does, I will remove them. But we will give it a go!

Some folks have told me that my story would make a good book. I am honored to think that people would like to read my story. So, not quite knowing how to go about doing this, I will probably preview things here in the blog. If some of this stuff sounds familiar, I apologize. I will put something in the tag section so you can skip it if you want.

Trump on Today

I was watching the Trupster today on Today this morning, and the guy went down a whole lot of pegs in my book. Actually, so much that I’m thinking of deleting my TIVO programming for The Apprentice because of it.

If you didn’t see it, Meredith asked The Donald about the feud between he and Rosie O’Donnell. Good ol’ Donald proceeded to make comments about Rosie’s weight and comments that could only be categorized as homophobic.

Someone with that much power should not need to stoop to name calling. I may not have always agreed with the Trumpster, but at least he seemed to be a man of character. Now, I don’t know.

Some Initial 2007 Thoughts

Well, Happy New Year!

When I look back, I really don’t know what I will feel about 2006. “It was the best of times, it was the worst of times; it was the year of my discontent.”

I would like to say that 2006 was a horrible year. It was the year that I lost my job. It is the year I butchered my credit rating. It is the year I spent a fortune on cell phone bills. But it also was a great year. It was the year I grew closer to Nick. It is the year I came out to my family, friends, and congregation. It is the year I went to San Antonio. It is the year I became an Episcopalian. So good things and bad things have happened. In some ways, it is so yin-yang, some of the bad things had to happen for the good things to happen.

It is so hard to anticipate the good things when you are in the midst of the bad things. It is hard to trust in God when all around you God seems to be hiding. But it is that trust, that faith, that kept me going. (Well, faith and the strong arms and strong heart of Nick!) And it is that faith that keeps me going now.

I certainly hope this upcoming year is a whole lot easier than the last. But in saying that, I have probably jinxed myself. That would be the case if I believed in jinxes. But I do believe things will get better.

I hope for you all the New Year is challenging enough to be interesting but predictable enough to be comforting.
