Lightning Struck

I just got a call telling me not to come in to work. I guess I am happy they waited until after weekend. That way I got to enjoy the weekend without futzing over it.

I had no idea I was on the block. I thought I was doing well. I was trying to do my best, to give what they asked, "world class service." I guess my best wasn't good enough.

So I am back to being unemployed. I know God is still in this, just where?

I'm really sorry to hear that. It does not seem that the place that talked "world class service" was a "world class act" to begin with, tho.

As one of my (ex) co-workers once said (he left on his own, btw), "It is God's way of freeing you to be successful elsewhere."

Whoa! And you had no clue? That does suck. But I believe everything happens for a reason.

Meh. Ick. Bleh. Ptooey.

Reading your earlier posts about "not getting off the phone soon enough" and giving lip-service to "world class service" (one that just makes me crazy, at my own employer), makes me just want to hurl. Good riddance, brother.

On the one hand, I can't believe they let you go over the phone. On the other hand, I'm glad they saved you a drive in.

With all respect to Wayne, I'm one of those people who get really irritated when I hear "everything happens for a reason." Yes, I know - in fact, there is a reason for everything. There's a reason for random acts of violence and murder: because people are stupid and violent and cruel. There's a reason for young people dying in a stupid war: because greedy, stupid people send them there, and because the rest of us sheep haven't stood up and said, "We're mad as hell, and we won't take it anymore!"

But there is no God in any of those things. I believe God weeps for the victims of random murders and war casualties. None of that is God's will. It's just pure human fuckery. Any more than there is God in your firing.

You were let go. A stupid act done to a kind, willing-to-serve man by greedy people obsessed with "da numbers." Fine. But NOW, God can do something with what's left.

I've come to see God as the ultimate lemons to lemonade worker. And I believe without question that God is with you - and the next right thing will come.

Thinking of you and praying for you, brother.
