Two people got fired from work in the past two days.
Now, I know they cannot say why these people got fired, but it definitely sent a chilling effect around the office. We all can't help but wonder, "Are we next?"
These people seemed to be doing their work well. At least I didn't see anything wrong. So we all are wondering if our head is on the block next.
I have said it before: I don't think I was cut out for corporate culture.

I have come to the conclusion that part of the reason for such firings is precisely the fear you express - am I next? This atmosphere helps to keep the slaves, ahh, I mean, the workers in line and compliant. Right now, given the philosophy of our leaders and the piss-poor economy, management knows they can get away with such tactics without consequences.
They forget that what goes around comes around. Payback time is coming.
As the owner of a small business, sometimes you have to let people go, but usally it's after everyone else thought so first.
